How to install a dashcam and hide wiring

Hey guys welcome projection BRZ here today, I’m going to be installing a black view to direct dashcam into my Biasi, together with a T strength C portable power plant, which is like a UPS battery backup so that you can use the the parking plan on The on the pitch-black vistum, so the purpose of this video is to show you mostly how to install the the camera into your gondola. Doesn’t really matter what kind of car it is in this case. Obviously it’s going to be a Biasi, but guiding principles in the video should apply to pretty much any vehicle that you’re trying to install this here. So let’s get into it alright, so the first thing we want to do is clean. The expanse of the windscreen we’re gon na be installing a camera just to made to ensure that the sticky pad lodges properly. So we know we’re gon na be sticking it somewhere in that vicinity. Now we want to align a camera so that the lens is pretty much dead center, so I’m actual that it’s divide out in a straight line with that there’s more. Thank you, alright! So peel off the sticky tape, it looks pretty good, really jump out and check on the breast. Excellent that looks is right to me and we’re gon na want to aim in the camera slightly better as well, and then we can slide that lens ceiling off at the end, that’s good, because it’s hidden pretty much from opinion and you’re looking in the rear vision here it’s not blocking the attitude outside of the car at all. Alright. Now the next thing we’re gon na need to do is run the power to the glovebox. I’m going to be installing it in the glove box in the BRZ, because there’s a I don’t know if you can see on the video, but there’s a little cigarette lighter plug merely in there. So what I need to do, okay, it’s, went ta inline fuse with it as well, which is good. So that aims, if anything, goes wrong with the camera. It should blow the fuse in this cable and not the shoes on the car, which is always nice yeah, because it’s got a fat end on this line-up. We can’t patently exit this highway and run for your lives down, because then we’d have a problem with being able to run the fuse in this plug in through the two sides. So what I’m going to do, let’s jump around the other side and I’m going to want to run the cable starting from the small plug in up through the sprint, so make sure there’s , no bows all right! So get a little torch now, so I can be demonstrated you so there’s the cigarette lighter jack time in there, which is where we’re going to actually plug the thing in, and so what I’m gon na do is I’m gon Na run all the cables through now and down for now a bit of a direct. There, then up through the two sides now all the way along here into this seal along here too difficult and then around the top of the breath luggage along now and then down. So we’ve got the end that we’re running up and we need to make sure that it’s not gon na pinch anyway. Thank you so certainly, cable through there huh ensure and that’s, delightful and disguised underneath here as well. So what I need to do is just check that it’s not going to tinge anywhere now as long as I run for your lives around the back here, it’s, gon na is enough yeah that’s gon na be fine, okay. So, only I’m gon na need to employed a little cable , not just there just to make sure that it doesn’t get pinched all right. So now we need to run all of that cable through mm. Hmm, what we’ll end up do at the end is returning back any surplus cable through back into the glove box again. But for now we want as much slack as we can get mm. Hmm now, because we don’t know how much cable we’re actually going to need to get to the top. We don’t want to stop going in this direction, because then we’ll end up with a bunch of slack where the camera is so what we need to do next is actually go back to the camera and start running the cable back down to This point now and then thread it back through again, so I’ll jumping around the other side of the car again material out of the way. Okay, so we want to plug it in to the camera in the place where it needs to sit time that push all right, and we want the cables to run nice and neatly straight up so start here and then we’ll just stop tucking. The cable in so the roof Lonnie. This is really easy to do. Just talk straight in there now we’re gon na be running a second cable later on as well for the rear camera. So not perfect at the current stage simply needs to be in there. We want to make sure that we retain that demise neat and clean and straight just run it along yeah. So I can feel that that’s, all nice and hidden there come back around the other side again all right. So now we need to do it.’s just fold it into the corner here, and we can probably hook this out a little bit yep there. We run run it around up into this little Junction. He pull this shut down, time run it all the way along here I’m gon na. Try not to bend this close out of shape at all so that it still sits nice and flush against the snip here.’s. What it might getting a little bit interesting should hopefully be out of only kind of break it down in there. Yep like that, and then just so it’s, nice and obstructed, but I will do so. The cable is hidden in there now. What I am gon na do, though, is just get a flat blade, screwdriver and simply kind of poke it in a little. Further once yeah just so, I can obstruct this little bit in now nicely because I’m trying to try to be a perfectionist about it all right. So let’s say that’s, all delightful and snug. Now we’ve still got to correct them in a slack up the top, so that’s good alright. So the next thing I want to do is pull this slack back through again before I go even further, so we’ll just now. I want to be nice and careful doing this so that we don’t trimmed more nice and soothing okay. Well, it’s actually slipped in there pretty well , now, all right, so I’m, just gon na grab a little flat, blade, screwdriver and time try to plug that wire in there a little better, all right. So whatever shot is. I’m gon na flat blade screwdriver now and I’ve just shielded the tip of it with some electrical videotape, so they don’t scratch my it’ll and we’ll really give the line up now and just particularly gently simply hose That cable you got and just poke that seal back perfect. There we go so now you can see the cables completely invisible the whole way up. There’s no lumps or anything in here nicely in the roof hole all the way up to here now, one thing in the BIOS: that is, that the airbag does actually widen down to about here in the car. So, ideally you don’t want to be looping the cable around it because then, when the airbag deploys it’s going to drag the cable out with it, it’s not a problem, because there’s enough slack in now in order to be allowed to merely Kind of come release, but what you’ll notice. What I did is actually drew the cable down so that when it came from here, it actually ended up departing across like that. That makes the airbags got enough room to deploy outwards like this, so that’s just one thing to note with this particular car. Alright. So now we’ve got the cable bunched up now. We can run this release for now and it’s time to move on to the second cable, which is to run to the rear camera. One thing you wishes to be do before you do any of this is actually test the camera in its entirety. To make sure everything’s working before you plug anything in which I did prior to this video. In situations of my camera, it was actually Korean software, so I had to reflash it to English, which wasn’t a problem, but it was a little bit frustrating okay, the first one goes back here. What I’m going to end up doing is putting some little plastic tabs, which came with the camera now, precisely to protect it as well, but fit out getting around this counter back up in now as well. We’ve got the correct amount of slack there. You can say that’s, a neat elegant and straighten agree. There witness the cables poking through a little bit there, so simply fix that up jump-start around the other side again same treat as before. We just wanted to simply kind of go inside this thing now in the case of this one with the airbag it is gon na have to loop across, but because we’re gon na have excess slack in this part, it’ll come down with it. So you can imagine the cable is going to run like this, but when the airbag deploys there’ll be enough slack that it can come down, and I’m gon na move it up in this way the aura pack the airbag, deploys it. That road. This whole panel kind of rinds out I’ll, evidence your painting in the in the video as well. So you can see exactly what I signify, but um the breath container comes out this way and peels time with it that way. So if the cables tucked in this side, it’ll be out of the method of the breeze pocket where reference is deploys. Now. At this item, we want to check that we’ve got the right amount of slack in the top cable here, which we do everything looks fine. So now we can’t, pluck this little seal down from here and run this cable all the way along the roof rowing. Time so back from this, I’m trying to push it up in there. As far as I can and keep it uniform all the way around, simply to be absolutely sure that it’s not gon na get in the way of that airbag. In the unfortunate case that the airbag does go off a bit more wiping back here for you, okay now we’re up to the furthest of the seals us alright. So I’ve got a neat empty contact. We can be found in the cable a little bit there, but that doesn’t matter: okay, yeah yeah, so the cable is completely hidden all the way along okay. Now we need to run it around this Bend and in different areas of the top here all right. Now it’s time to jump into the back. So I move all this stuff down. Grab the grab. The remain of the cable from here thread that, through the back all right so imparting this munch food all right, all going to hell, for the merriment component, we’re rolling into the back of this tiny little automobile okay. So I’ve got a bit of a crick now, but I think that was always various kinds of there. So much of that cable you there all right yeah! We continue along a course to the back of the car until we get to this panel. Okay. So before we go any further with this cable, it is essential to. We need to place our rear camera, because we’re gon na have a whole bunch of excess cable, and we’re gon na need person. We’re gon na we’ll be able to set it is currently. I don’t want to be putting it all up in now and trying to shove it in past the pole or in the best place, for it’s going to be to tuck it into here up in the top corner. So what I’ll do is. I need to find a point of reference in the middle of a auto. Now I could use this, but it’s a bit far away from where I want to mount the camera, the camera. So what I’ve got is a little pop rivet here in the middle of the car, which I can use to reference the centre for human rights and align my own align the camera. With that now I’ve already scavenged the rear windscreen now. So there’s. No publishes there with with soil or anything on the glass. So what I will do is I’ll peel the peel. The plastic include off this. So now what we can do is plug in the make sure we don’t have any braids initiated with. So that would be a real pain to get out later, like the camera in like so and then only wander that cable along the back. I don’t really get to here now. We need to do something with all this excess. So what I recollect I’m gon na do is try to bunch it up. Okay, so I’ve got the young cable totally concealed. Now it’s running along with top now from the camera and what I end up doing there’s a canal really along now with abundance of slew of abundance of slack, so I’ve just various kinds of punched it up and propagandized it all in There again with the breeze suitcase, the breeze container comes out from here and comes that space, so anything that’s above it on this side, isn’t going to be in the way at all, so it’ll just come out. There would be no problem. The air bag comes in a figure like this around here, so that won’t be a problem there. So I’m not concerned about that, and so we’ve got a nice hidden, cable. All the course around from the figurehead, so the next thing we need to do is jump-start back away again and I can get out of the back of this automobile now, which is nice around the front. Alright. So now we need to deal with all this excess cabling that we’ve got in the front yeah I’ve got this some tea power battery. Now what this does? This enables the parking quantity to run even when you are ,’ ve switched off it’s , not usually. If you’ve got it powered by the cigarette. Lighter there’s enough battery power in the black view, to simply kind of shut it down gracefully, but then, formerly the car is off that’s it. So what this does it’s like a UPS on a computer and what it does is it it charges off the car office off a cigarette lighter in the car and then allows the allows the camera to keep running after the after the cigarette. Lighter power is gone, so it’s got a little charger, so you can see it’s got a charger and then a cigarette lighter port as well. So what we want to do is we want to plug the charger box in get this space. Well not this style, yes, it’ll switch on it there. This is going to plug it into the cigarette, lighter port under the dash here, and then the black consider is going to plug into this side like that which will then plug into the battery output. Then the input place just going to plug in here and then that’s going to plug into the cigarette lighter port on the car. So what I want to do is I want to make it so that it’s relatively removable, but not too messy. So what I’ll probably do is run it something like that in the gauntlet casket. So I’m thinking I could. I want to be able to see relevant indicators on it and everything, so I’ve like this – these four you are familiar with. So if I have it oriented like that, in the back of the glove container that’s a excellent fit, so I can see how much accuse it’s got and it’s not going to be in the way there so that’s that’s actually excellent there. What I don’t like is this charger thing being so obvious, so probably attach that up here like that and then move the cable down. So let’s give that a try. So we’ll just kind of pretend fan in climb down the lowest, so you can see what’s going on commit it up there’s a little influence switch on top of this, but I’m too concerned about what I do need to Be able to do is plug the input into the battery’s input, yeah and the cigarette lighter be applicable to plug into the cigarette lighter on the car. Once again, I’ve measured all of this substance prior to plugging it in so I know it wields before push it into my vehicle. The last thing we want is to plug it all in and then find out, but nothing undertakings and I’m gon na attract it all out again. So this is gon na plug into the cigarette lighter port. At the back here like that, and then I’ve pretty much decided that I’m gon na stick that there, I think so grab one of the velcro pieces it came with now leant the velcro feature, my gondola right, so what I’ll do Grab the fluffy place, fasten it onto the back of this, like that, then grab the the velcro place. Stick it to that, like that and then simply get onto into arrange on the car right up against the edge like that perfect and then that demonstrates us fairly room to unplug the battery as well. So I’ll do this. Do the same with the artillery? Now so grab the other velcro strip and then only shove that down like that that’s a nice chunk. So then that cabling can bunch up to a certain extent behind there now use one of those little invoices that I was talking about earlier. To do that, and I can I can slide neatly across there now. I need to sort out the yield slope, so I get into yeah no , no, that’s plugged in what I might do is just immediately evaluation that everything races off the artillery, so substitution the battery on what’s come on on the black thought, and It should come up in a second, yes, a recording, so it’s good , now sag in different areas of the back quickly and make sure that the back camera is active as well, and I can see that energy is one on the rear camera so that’s running As well, what I can’t actually do later on is is attached to it with my phone, which I’ll do simply to show you how all of that interface directs as well, but for now I can see that everything’s working the action it’s meant to so switch that artillery bundle back down again. Thank you all right. So now we need to deal with all of this excess cable as well, so starting from this side bash it all up now. What I could do is I could chop this cable and shorten it to the desired duration, but I don’t really want to avoid the warranty on the products when it’s brand new. So I won’t do that for now I’ll. Just punch the cable up neatly like that: okay, so what I’ve done is I’ve got the cigarette, lighter, cable, extending and really kind of bunched up behind the charger dock now and then I’ve got the two cables that guided they’Re extending behind to the to the output and then the black few cables or merely bunched up, and what I’m thinking I’m gon na do is just kind of leave that is still, like that. I know it.’s not the tightest in the petroleum, but what it does planned is that I can easily unplug it if I it is necessary and plug it instantly into the port. If I don’t want to run the battery for some reason um, so I study I’m gon na leave it like that for now, and then I can just make other stuff in the mitt casket so that it doesn’t rattle around. So the next step is to fire up the ignition and make sure that everything does what it minced, what it’s meant to do and that no fuses block no reason why they would battery. So that should be charging switch on the artillery there and the pitch-black. You should switch on only wasn’t plugged in properly so okay. So these little cables here are quite feelings rank up to things so has to really make sure they’re pressed in that should be charging them like rewards running. But if I swap that Jojo wolf, you know keep running so that’s good yeah , no problems alright, so I’m gon na substitution the ignition back down again is we know everything’s working alright, so the black tea is still running because we’ve got the battery turned on. You should probably too made to ensure that the gauntlet chest closes, which it does alright. So the next thing I can do is check that the Wi Fi is working and check that the camera inclinations are correct as well. So I’ll open my phone applied that little lens cap, and now we can see here that it’s tilted a little low-toned sound it up a few clicks that gazes to be really nicely centered. I can see the the visual plane across the air is pretty much the same, so it symbolizes I’ve got it neat and straight and we’ll have a look at the rear camera that looks pretty good too, maybe a little bit crooked, but you Get who really see if I can rectify that a little and again, then again, I think that’s pretty much discern on there all right, okay, so we’ve got our own, but everything’s plugged in and passing and reviews good, so shove That in there quickly – and actually it working well as a reversing camera to your login press, switch and merely have a look. And what will happen is after five minutes of no motion on the on the car. It will. It will go into automated parking mode and parking procedure will can run until the battery on the the battery on the UPS vanishes flat, so just to run through again how that all labours. So the UPS is plugged into the cigarette lighter port there and it charges off service charges off the car when the car is running when the cigarette lighter port is active, and so it freights the artillery. In the UPS and the UPS influences, the powers, the hyphen cam, so what that symbolizes is that, when the flair cam goes into parking mode, it can it can continue to power the camera, even though the ignitions off – and I believe this thing ranges for up to 24 hours before it runs out of influence and then blames up again off the battery the next time you drive again, so I’m hoping that if I can maintain the charge, apparently I’m not going to leave it in parking state when it’S in my garage and that kind of thing, so I’ll time switch off the UPS when I don’t whatever I don’t need it formerly. Actually, one thing I will experiment us to see if to see if it still supremacies the camera and the kindlings on after the when the UPS is off, to see if it has a bypass mode. So let me just go into kind of supplements would swap that on okay, so it’s beeping at me, which intends it’s Ronnie black, for abuse Ronnie. So if I swap that off okay, so that’s that’s a little silly it doesn’t have a bypass mode, which represents the artillery has to be switched on whenever the camera is running, even though you don’t certainly need the Ups, so that’s good to know, permutation that back on and button the supplements back up again. Okay, so that handles the process of establishing the black notion to direct dr 550 GW. Yes, I think that’s right into a Subaru BRZ or a Toyota 86, but those instructions should apply to pretty much any auto that you want to install it in with a bit of common sense. The only thing left to do now is to just tidy up this wiring in the top here and the room I’m going to do. That is just with the little wire fastens that are included. I don’t think I really need to cover that in the video, though, because it’s pretty it’s pretty straightforward and self-evident. So I’ll upright up another video proving showing how the how the computer interface drives and a little more about how the smartphone interface labours and how you can configure the camera with different sensitivity, quality and GPS and those kinds of things I’ll.
